Program in American Studies students, December 2017

Welcome to the Program in American Studies. We bring together students and faculty from the arts, humanities and social sciences, crossing disciplinary boundaries to explore questions of migration, colonization, race, borders, and diaspora; of art, culture, and language; of law and public policy; of gender and sexuality; of ongoing redefinitions on our campus and in the world. American studies undergraduate students approach complex issues of identity through the history, literature, art, politics, society and culture of the United States in all its diversities, engaging with texts that manifest and originate ideas of America. They write on topics including public health; foreign policy; graphic narrative; urban history, design and planning; food; television and digital media.
